Plastic and sustainable development

Agenda: Strategies for eradicating plastic waste
About Our Committee
Our committee „Plastic and sustainable development“ under the auspices of the UN General Assembly addresses the issues of sustainable development and plastic pollution. The problem of plastic waste is one of the most burning problems of present times and a real threat to humanity and nature. The whole world is troubled by plastic. 25 delegates are the ones who will debate, expressing and proving various views, in order to formulate strategies for eradicating plastic waste while solving the global problems. In our committee, the main focus will be on the following SDGs: 6, 12, 14, 15 - as a blueprint for creating a safe world for every human being.
Gleb Ivanov
President of the “Plastic and Sustainable development” committee .
Honourable delegates,
I am proud to greet you as the President of the “Plastic and Sustainable development” committee.

In recent years the United Nations have reached significant progress in addressing the issue of sustainable development. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are no longer considered as another complex bureaucratic document, but are viewed as a blueprint for creating a prosperous and safe world for every human being. Now it's time to translate words into actions. The world needs us and we need the better world for ourselves and for the generations to come. Our urgent task is to fulfill long-term commitments and provide the international community with durable solutions for the most pressing issues of today.

I wish you all the best and hope that our joint work will be constructive, fruitful and devoted!

Sincerely yours,
Anastasia Darovskaya,
Vice-President of the “Plastic and Sustainable development” committee
Dear delegates,
I am pleased to welcome you at our Model High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. This year we are to solve one of the most burning issues of the present time - the issue of plastic pollution.

The agenda of our committee is about real threats to humanity. The problem of plastic sometimes is called “plastic invasion” and this version definitely suits the issue. We use plastic even without thinking about it. The whole world is troubled by plastic waste. Ecological problems unite all humanity in solving them, because we can’t stay apart. It is not about just health, it is about survival.

Remember, there is no need to be afraid in coming forward, especially in such great issues as our agenda. Together we can change the rules!

Sincerely yours,
Committee Board
